Fishing & Boating Licenses

Katse Dam / Lesotho

Motebong lodge has a working arrangement with Lesotho Highlands Water Authority to ensure a fair use of the dam for boating and fishing. For this purpose, that lodge is appointed to issue fishing and boating permits on behalf of the authority and this allows guests to enjoy the use of the dam.

Before launching boats on the dam or fishing, guests are requested to complete formalities at the lodge reception and this will include cleaning boats as the Water Authority requires.

As the drought continues to be severe, it has had an effect on the water levels of the dam near Motebong Lodge. The result is that we are now not launching boats from within our grounds but from a slipway 15 minutes’ drive from our gate on a tarred road. This slipway, was constructed by the Water Authority is of good quality

Self Catering Accommodation

Katse Dam - Lesotho

Accommodation at the mountain lodge is made up of fully-furnished and fully-equipped self catering cottages of varying sizes and accommodating a varying number of people. These cottages are heated with coal or electric and gas stoves, which is critical during the winter months. They are cleaned daily by our housekeeping staff with the exception of a couple of days when the staff is also given time off

Katse Dam - Lesotho

Motebong has committed itself to recruiting from Ha Lejone and will continue to do so where the skills and experience is there. With the exception of the Chef, all our staff are from Ha Lejone and surrounds, and have been given the necessary training for the roles they occupy at Motebong. This is a practice that Motebong will continue to pursue for as long as is possible into the future.
